On April 1, 2008, Jade Raymond and Hideo Kojima presented "the newest trailer for a game in the Assassin's Creed series." The game's name was intentionally censored when Raymond said it. The "trailer" was actually gameplay footage for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, with Old Snake wearing the outfit of Altaïr from Assassin's Creed.
The gameplay footage goes as far as to going into first person mode to show the amount of detail put into Altaïr-Snake's outfit, down to the blade-hiding gauntlets and short blade and throwing knives on his back. At the end of the trailer, Snake is slammed into by a Gekko and Altaïr's outfit is thrown into the sky, revealing Snake in his sneaking suit underneath. The video ends with Hideo Kojima remarking "Did you like it?" along with the alert sound effect.
Behind the scenes[]
- Altaïr's outfit is an unlockable camouflage in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
- In 2010, a similar trailer was released, revealing the existence of the Assassin's straw box in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
