This article is about a subject from outside Hideo Kojima's core "Metal Gear Saga." It has some level of canonicity within the continuity, but reader discretion is advised.[?]
At some point during the late 2000s, early 2010s, Benjamin ended up experimented on by the Patriots, resulting in him becoming a cyborg. His left arm, in particular, was replaced with a cybernetic one, containing data from the Patriots. Although his ethnicity was African-American, Benjamin's cyborg body was given Caucasian features to cut down on costs.
After the Patriots' fall, he ended up joining Desperado Enforcement LLC., eventually rising up the ranks.

In 2018, Benjamin, alongside the rest of Desperado under Mistral, took part in the Abkhazian Coup under the employment of their client, the Chechen terrorist Andrey Dolzaev. During this time, he as well as three cyborgs, with two armored cyborgs as backup, guarded the then-captured Russian coastal refinery plant in Abkhazia, located just a few miles from Sukhumi, nearing the upper levels. He and his unit were eventually ambushed and killed by Maverick member Raiden late into the mission, with his arm being taken by Raiden in the process.
Behind the scenes
Benjamin is a character in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, as well as one of thirty cyborgs to contain retrievable left arms in the game. He acted as the fourth cyborg commander in Chapter R-01 and of the whole game.
