Disinfectant

Disinfectant

Disinfectants are a type of chemical used to eliminate bacteria and other microorganisms.

Usage

Operation Snake Eater

See also: Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater

Naked Snake carried several disinfectants in his field medical kit during the Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater. In the former mission, he was forced to use it during the mission's conclusion after he sustained injuries during his encounter with The Boss at Dolinovodno's bridge, including lacerations to his upper arms, right elbow, and abdomen. Spetsnaz soldiers also carried these on hand at Tselinoyarsk. The disinfectants used in the region are made from the native Slav Horehound plant, due to it containing large amounts of diterpene, flavonoids, and alkanoids, which granted the plant large germicidial properties.

Behind the scenes

The Disinfectant is a healing item used for the Survival Viewer in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The name is technically inaccurate as "disinfectants" are chemicals used to eliminate bacteria and other microorganisms on non-organic surfaces. A more accurate term for it would be "anti-septic." They are limited at the start of the game, but the player can gain more of them either ready-made in certain locations, or by procuring some Slav Horehounds, identifiable as tall bushy shrubs with white flowers on it.
