Researcher at SaintLogic who became Koppelthorn's assistant out of pity when seeing his lonliness. Age 27. Graduated from Kyoto University, then pursued her doctorate at Harvard -- majoring in "psychological engineering." It was implied in the story that Dr. Takiyama had performed "special favors" for Rodzinski and Koppelthorn to get to where she is in the company today (which may explain her scantly clad choice of wordrobe). She resents Lucy because of the affection Dr. Koppelthorn has for her, however was still given the job of Lucy's caretaker which she took seriously out of her unrequented love for Koppelthorn and sang to her like a mother would a daughter. In a subject of comic relief, she and Venus would often get into arguements as she was distressed and fearful in the face of danger, while Venus was collected and well seasoned, which prompted Venus to take jabs at Takiyama's cowardice. While shes not a soldier, she did keep herself armed with the Makarov PMM for protection of both herself and Lucy (at least when Snake stumbled across the two of them at first).
Initially frightend of Snake, suspecting that he might have been part of Vince's security forces, points her gun at him in self-defense and locks him out of the east-wing of the Research Block to protect herself and Lucy. Snake manages to infiltrate the area through other means, upon which Snake, Dalton, and Wiseman convince her that he's there to help them. She tells them of Koppelthorn's motives, that he's trying to run some kind of experiment, but President Rodzinski was strongly opposed to it, and tried to put a stop to the whole thing. Dr. Koppelthorn refused to cooperate and there was a lot of friction. The president then used security forces to stop him violently. She agrees to assist them in order to get Dr. Koppelthorn under control in exchange for her personal safety. She has to wait in the east wing of the Research Block until Snake can retrieve her in due time, however she and Lucy are attacked by UGV Sukiyaki Box drones. Snake, along with the recently appearant ally Venus, rescue them both with Venus greeting her to the to the menacing sight of a SOCOM pistol's inner barrel as she couldn't stop her disressful screeming. Snake and Dalton stop Venus, who was seemingly joking, then prompting their first arguement with each other.
When Wisman finds out at this point that she's in charge of the EGO system (a new OS development project for Metal Gear), and asks her about it, Takiyama tells them that Metal Gear is finished and armed meaning that Koppelthorn can now launch a nuclear warhead at will and the only way to prevent that is to destroy Metal Gear. Wiseman then needed all of them to advance through the building's north section, board the cargo train, and move on to the Northern Block. Takiyama would be able to get them inside with her access card. When Snake and Venus go to investigate the railroad, she and Dalton converse for a while, and tells him of Lucy and about herself. She later boards the cargo train with Lucy, Snake and Venus, and upon while in motion, are attacked by guards. After Snake and Venus make short work of the guards, they come up to the rail bridge, intercepted by Metal Gear Chaioth Ha Kadosh. Koppelthorn is revealed to be the mech's pilot, and as it turns out he ordered Takiyama to retrieve Lucy for her after the security forces turned against him. While Takiyama objects to the "fertilization" (Lucy intigrating the memories of Lucinda Koppelthorn, Dr. Koppelthorn's dead wife) taking place, Koppelthorn convinces her that he still needs Takiyama, convincing her to take Lucy and go along with him.
She is not seen for the majority of the game and is rescued by Snake upon Lucy's last request. With the Metal Gear Hanger's self destruct mechanism activated, she, Snake, and Venus hastily escape as they protect her once again from malfunctioning Patrol Bots. Snake gets left behind, and Takiyama has to drive a jeep through the evacuation passage, despite her protests against leaving Snake behind. As more Patrol Bots give chase, Venus shoots back at them with her AKS-74U. The Patrol Bots explode, and Takiyama drives out of the tunnel just in time. Takiyama is found by an American soldier who the subsequently detains her. Venus however, is seemingly nowhere to be found. An alarm suddenly goes off and the ground shakes to the emerging of Metal Gear Chaioth Ha Kadosh. The US soldiers fire upon the menacing mech which is about fire it's linear cannon. The linear cannon of the Metal Gear powers up slowly, and it fires. However, what it shot out splashes into the ocean. Strecher bound for a rescue chopper heading to a hosptial, Takiyama grieves for Snake, but Venus emerges, desguised as a rescue team member, reassures her that Snake's still alive, as he is, and always has been a survivor who's been to hell and back. What would become of Takiyam at this point is unknown.
