Ellen Madnar (エレン・マッドナー Eren Maddonā?) is a former Bolshoi Ballet star and the only daughter of scientist Dr. Madnar. She was kidnapped by the mercenary force of Outer Heaven and held hostage in order to coerce her father into developing Metal Gear TX-55. However, she was saved by Solid Snake during Operation Intrude N313, reunited with her father at the end. Afterwards, she decided to remain in Russia whilst her father went to the United States. She became a "fan" of Snake, as Dr. Madnar tells him during Operation Intrude F014.

Ellen's full name was originally listed as Elen Pettrovich in the MSX2 manual for Metal Gear, but this was changed in later revisions when it was established that Madnar is Petrovich's surname. The mobile phone/PlayStation 2 version changed her surname to Madnar.
