During a guerrilla offensive in the Soviet-Afghan war in 1984, this prisoner had been detained by the Soviets. He then was put into a 4x4 and escorted over to the Wakh Sind Barracks,[1] although not before finding out the location of a hidden staging area for the offensive.

Before he could arrive at his destination, however, the vehicle had been intercepted by the leader of Diamond Dogs, Venom Snake, who had learned about the prisoner transfer from Ocelot.[2] As Venom Snake and the Diamond Dogs were already present in the region to take out several mechanized reinforcements belonging to the Soviets on the behalf of various guerrillas for the latter's guerrilla operation and had already neutralized three of the armor vehicles, the rescued prisoner promptly returned the favor by supplying information on the location of the hidden staging area.[3][4]

Behind the scenes

The Escort prisoner is one of six prisoners found in the mission "Back Up, Backdown." As his name implies, the prisoner is in transit. Rescuing him will result in the Yakho Oboo Supply Outpost becoming a target. His name upon being recruited into Diamond Dogs is Vile Buffalo.

Unlike the other POWs, his language is Russian instead of Pashto, which alongside his statements to Venom Snake about his knowledge of a hidden staging area implies that he had been a Soviet defector who got caught. However, interacting with him when rescuing him will have him verbally speak English like the other POWs.
