The PTRS-41, sometimes referred to as the Simonov, is the semi-automatic cousin for the PTRD developed in 1938.

Overview[]

The PTRS1941 played a large part in the Eastern Front in World War II. It later was utilized in the Korean War as well as the Chinese Civil War by various factions. Like the PTRD, it utilizes the same ammo and is used to take down tanks. Unlike the PTRD, however, it is capable of repeating fire.

During the Peace Walker Incident, the Militaires Sans Frontières, procured design specs for the PTRS1941. MSF's R&D Team, along with some anti-tank rifle specialists, then made their own PTRS1941s.

Gameplay[]

The PTRS1941 is most effective weapon against helicopters, if player wants S rank without using bandana or fulton recovery systems. By shooting custom helicopter exactly 30 times to the cockpit, player can expose pilot immediately without dealing with all the soldiers in the area.

Behind the scenes[]

In Metal Gear Acid, Leone uses the PTRS as his main weapon card, during both battles against the duo Solid Snake and Teliko Friedman. When his defense card is activated, he will twirl the rifle, repelling all attacks. Leone has a 1/3 chance of executing a one-shot kill on a target, and will also destroy crates that block his line of sight.

The player can procure design specs for the PTRS1941 in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, by sneaking through the Rio del Jade area undetected.

"An anti-tank rifle that uses the same ammo as the PTRD.
Basically the same weapon as the PTRD, but with repeat fire capability, making it the most powerful sniper rifle you'll ever see.
When the mission calls for firepower above all else, accept no substitutes.
