The RPG-2 was the first rocket-propelled grenade developed in the Soviet Union.
History[]
The RPG-2 was developed in 1947 and entered the Red Army during 1949, and was derived from Nazi Germany's Panzerfaust anti-tank weapon. It had several flaws in regards to its short range and low accuracy, which led to it being replaced by the RPG-7 when it was developed. However, the RPG-2 still saw use during the Indochina wars, Vietnam War, and the Cambodian Civil War.
Peace Walker Incident[]

During the Peace Walker Incident in 1974, Big Boss and his mercenary unit, the Militaires Sans Frontières, snuck into the Bananal Fruta de Oro sorting shed upon receiving intelligence that they were holding classified documents, and intended to steal them. The documents turned out to be design specs for the RPG-2, to which the MSF developed their own variant.
Post-Peace Walker[]
During the late 1970s, it was used in the Cambodian-Vietnamese War and the Sino-Vietnamese War.
