Fire Trooper (ファイヤー・トルーパー Faiyā Torūpā?) was an Outer Heaven mercenary who fought against Solid Snake during Operation Intrude N313.

Fire Trooper was originally a member of GSG 9, a German counter-terrorism special forces group. During his time with the unit, Fire Trooper mastered his weapon of choice, the flamethrower, which was considered an odd choice among his unit as it was mostly a SWAT or sniper type operation. Nevertheless, Fire Trooper excelled in wielding his flamethrower so highly, that he was eventually able to handle it as if it were a mere rifle. Due to his dangerous weapon choice, Fire Trooper was forced to wear a white flame-retardant suit. After spending some time with the unit, Fire Trooper left and became a mercenary before being contracted by the mercenary nation Outer Heaven.

Fire Trooper engaged Solid Snake while in the basement of Outer Heaven, guarding the elevator to the rooftops. Despite Fire Trooper's heavy advantage of an even battlefield with no cover in sight, Snake was able to take advantage of Fire Trooper's lack of bodily protection, and was able to eliminate him with a mere pistol.

- Another flamethrower wielding soldier, The Fury, fought against Naked Snake in an underground area.
- Fire Trooper, along with Machinegun Kid, are the only two boss characters whose name wasn't changed in the re-releases of the original Metal Gear.
- The flamethrower guards in Metal Gear Solid 3 wear uniforms that are very similar to Fire Trooper.
