by blowing up the ammunition or food stores in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater,which are located in Bolshaya Past Base(the area before the fight with Ocelot),Krasnogorje Mountaintop and Groznyj Grad you can have a serious impact on the guards' effectiveness.

[edit] Irregular Troops
[edit] Flying Platform Troops
Armed with the Scorpion sub-machine gun and grenades, these soldiers have a greater field of view than normal soldiers and can be quite tricky to kill, as the flying platforms are shielded from the front. If you shoot out their searchlight under the base of the flying platforms, they will return to base for repairs. Shooting these men with tranquilizers darts causes their platforms to crash and explode, killing them anyway.However,they cannot see you when you are under them.
[edit] Flamethrower Troops
Armed with flamethrowers and appearing on the mountainside just outside the Groznyj Grad fortress,these guys can do a lot of damage if you get caught by them in a trench. Even if you do get up you have to make it around a corner before you're out of their range. It's also important to note that a few seconds after they die, their fuel tanks will explode.
[edit] Dogs
Dogs are a bit different to your normal guards in that they can find you by smell even if they can't see you. If you get into a situation where they are following you it's best to use a smoke grenade to throw them off track. They are generally found sleeping though can wake up at any time so killing them while they're asleep is the best method to avoid detection from them. Grenades aren't strongly recommended due to the dogs agility though like normal guards, a shot in the head can dispatch a dog quickly.
