DejaVuPortableOps Cropped2 "Hmm, I don't remember that one. It mustn't be that important."
This article is about a subject from outside Hideo Kojima's core "Metal Gear Saga." It has some level of canonicity within the continuity, but reader discretion is advised.[?]

Herbert was a cyborg commander of both Desperado Enforcement LLC. and World Marshal Inc. His cyborg serial code was 573 52217 2617.

Biography

Early life

At some point during the late 2000s, early 2010s, Martin ended up experimented on by the Patriots, resulting in him becoming a cyborg. His left arm, in particular, was replaced with a cybernetic one, containing data from the Patriots.

After the Patriots' fall, he ended up joining both Desperado Enforcement LLC. and World Marshal Inc., eventually rising up the ranks.

In 2018, Herbert led a unit composed of Slider-equipped cyborgs, RPG-soldiers, Mastiff UGs, and RPG soldiers to storm the main lobby of World Marshal Inc.'s HQ building, after Martin's unit was wiped out by Raiden, who was raiding the HQ building to retrieve brains belonging to children. He himself utilized a riot shield to confront Raiden, who utilized a UGT (unmanned guard tower) to hold off the unit to buy time for Doktor to hack into the (then-disabled) elevator system after the Blade Wolf UG accessed the elevator server. Raiden then proceeded to wipe out his unit, also managing to remove Herbert's left arm in the process.

Behind the scenes

Herbert is a character in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, as well as one of thirty cyborgs to contain retrievable left arms in the game. He acts as the second cyborg commander in Chapter R-04, attacking Raiden shortly after the player first finds the elevator system disabled.
