In 2018, James, alongside the rest of Desperado under Mistral, took part in the Abkhazian Coup under the employment of their client, the Chechen terrorist Andrey Dolzaev. During this time, he patrolled the outer perimeter of the old part of Sukhumi that led to the Russian coastal refinery plant in Abkhazia. He was eventually ambushed and killed by the Maverick member Raiden while on patrol, with Raiden taking his arm in the process.
