Kojima Productions is an independent Japanese video game development studio that was established in late 2015 following Hideo Kojima's exit from Konami. The original Kojima Productions studio disbanded as development of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was wrapping up.
The existence of the new company was announced on December 16, 2015, in conjunction with the news that they had signed a deal with Sony Computer Entertainment to developer a brand new game for the PlayStation 4. On May 15, 2016, Kojima revealed that the character on the new Kojima Productions logo was called "Ludence." It was later changed to "Ludens."
