Life medicine was a pharmaceutical drug developed by the Soviet Union for use in battle.

Function[]

Developed in the early 1960s, the exact components of Life medicine were a mystery to the West at the time. The medicine worked with the body's regenerative processes, allowing injuries to heal at a faster rate.

Usage[]

Life medicine was utilized within Tselinoyarsk, which Naked Snake later procured during Operation Snake Eater. Ocelot also utilized life medicine.

Behind the scenes[]

Although rare, the LIFE medicine can be found in various places throughout Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It serves the same purpose as the Ration from previous games in that it instantly replenishes the LIFE gauge when used. LIFE medicine can be selected in the item window and used by pressing the Circle button. If equipped, it will automatically heal the player once the LIFE gauge reaches zero. It weighs 0.2 kg when placed in the player character's inventory. If the player attempts to contact Sigint about the LIFE medicine, Para-Medic will frequently interrupt Sigint and give the info on it before Sigint could even get the chance to explain.

If the player gives Major Ocelot the Instant Noodles, the CalorieMate, or the Ration during his fight with Colonel Volgin, Ocelot will return the favor by throwing LIFE medicine to Snake in addition to SAA ammunition. During the Shagohod/Volgin fight, EVA will sometimes toss LIFE medicine for the player.

Portable Ops featured an ampoule in the Large Medical Kit icon, although it is not clear if it represented Life Medicine or Antidotes, due to both items being represented by ampoules.
