Metal Gear 2 was a nuclear-armed bipedal tank, and an upgraded version of Metal Gear 1.
History[]
Three years after the Operation Intrude N313, the United States Government discovered that a hostile base in an enemy nation had gotten hold of the plans for the first Metal Gear, which Solid Snake had destroyed in Outer Heaven. The nation, led by Big Boss (now a cyborg as a result of his defeat at the hands of Snake), had developed an upgraded version of the weapon, which was apparently seven times as powerful as the original.
Shortly after Big Boss met his final end, Metal Gear 2 was activated, and was set to fire on New York City, Tokyo, and Moscow as its first targets, and personnel were ordered to retreat to an underground shelter. However, Lt. Solid Snake managed to destroy the Metal Gear using remotely guided missiles, before it could launch its nuclear payload.
Weapons systems[]
- Three-barreled minigun
- Missile launcher
- Main nuclear launcher
Behind the scenes[]
In the user manual for Snake's Revenge, Metal Gear 2 is referred to as the "Ultra-Sheik Nuclear Attack Tank."
The Tiger LCD game talk handheld also has the Metal Gear 2 acting as the boss of the eighth level and the final boss of the game.
