Metal Gear Solid (film)
From the Metal Gear Wiki
In May 2006, Hideo Kojima announced that a film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid was in development. The film was purported to be in English, though a release date was not yet established.[1] Kojima also announced at E3 later that month that he had negotiated a contract with a party in Hollywood to adapt the video game into a film.[2] Kojima also considered Alaska as the site of the film production, due to the game's setting in the state.[3]
David Hayter has submitted his take for the movie but executives have passed on the script.[4]
The film's producer, Michael DeLuca, expressed interest in having Equilibrium director Kurt Wimmer write the script for the movie, and was thought to be directing it as well.[5] However, Wimmer was only approached to pitch a take on adapting the Metal Gear franchise and currently does not have any involvement with the film.[6]
In an interview with men's magazine Nuts, actor Christian Bale said that is interested in playing Solid Snake in the movie.[7] However, in a 2009 interview with MTV he denied talking about a film version of the game, though he stated that he has played Metal Gear Solid or a game in the Metal Gear series.[8]
Despite a 2009/2010 release date, there has been little information on the movie's development, causing speculation that the movie is in development hell.
