Service ribbons and the Distinguished Service Cross.

In various armed forces across the world, awards and decorations were issued to various personnel for acts of service with prerequisites including bravery, valor, courage, and unprecedented actions. They include service ribbons and medals. Although it was primarily used in standing state armed forces, irregular forces also utilized a similar method, including the Militaires Sans Frontières Insignias.

Achievement Medal/Ribbon

The Achievement Medal or Achievement Ribbon was an award meant to recognize junior officers and enlisted personnel's contributions while not meeting the standards of the Commendation Medal or the Meritorious Service Medal (and their equivalent service ribbons). It possessed five variants, for each of the five branches of the United States Armed Forces.

Good Conduct Medal/Ribbon

The Good Conduct Medal or Good Conduct Ribbon was one of the oldest awards in the United States Armed Forces, issued to the United States Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Air Force in 1941, 1869, 1896, 1923, and 1963, respectively. Its prerequisites required that the recipient do three to four years of "honorable and faithful service."
