MGS3 Motion Detector

The motion detector equipment used by FOX.

The motion detector is a device that can detect nearby moving objects.

Function

The motion detector contains a sensor that quantifies motion, alerting the user to the presence of moving objects within its field of view. The position of these objects can then be represented as dots on a visual display.

Usage

Operation Snake Eater

During the CIA's Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater, Naked Snake utilized a motion detector, created by FOX's technology expert Sigint.[1] Although the detector could reveal the positions of patrolling enemy soldiers and moving animals, its limited sensitivity meant that it was incapable of picking up very slight movements. Similar to the active sonar, the motion detector could be rendered inoperable by electronic jamming and its use was limited by batteries.
