Octocamo
From the Metal Gear Wiki
Octocamo is a new form of camouflage invented by Otacon for Solid Snake. It can replicate any wall pattern and texture within a few seconds, and can easily save preset patterns and textures for later use. It also can be used with a face mask for complete full body camouflage.
The player is able to go into a menu, accessible through the pause menu under "Camouflage," to change details of the Octocamo, such as applying camouflage you had saved from before, putting on a costume you have acquired, or putting on masks.
[edit] The Forgotten VR Mission
An early version of the Octocamo was used by Snake during The Forgotten VR Mission. The early version couldn't replicate patterns by touch, however, Snake had to take pictures of colors himself and then transfer them onto his suit.
[edit] Guns Of The Patriots
OctoCamo made its official debut on the battlefield during the PMC Uprising of 2014. Snake was fitted with it just prior to embarking into the Middle East. Beauty and The Beast Unit member Laughing Octopus also had a version of OctoCamo, though it seemed to be far superior as it was shown not only blending into the environment but also replicating extremely complex objects, such as a muscle mannequin and even the Metal Gear Mk.II. While not specifically stated for him, it is most probable that his OctoCamo came from DARPA, as Otacon explains that he based his design off prototype DARPA data found on the Internet.
