Optical Discedit this page
From the Metal Gear Wiki
Metal Gear Rex's combat exercise data was stored on a hard disk. However, the hard disk damaged by gunfire. The only remaining data is stored on an optical disc. ArmsTech president Kenneth Baker entrusts Solid Snake with the disc. Ocelot took it from Snake before torturing him. Ocelot, along with George Sears, would then sell the information to the highest bidder, causing a swarm of Metal Gear derivatives to pop up all over the world. This swarm of REX derivatives would then lead to the development of Metal Gear RAY.
Nastasha Romanenko holds onto two optical discs, given by her ex-husband Richard Ames. One contains the entire record of events that took place on Shadow Moses Island. The other disc holds the details of Project FOXDIE. Nastasha used this information to write a book called In the Darkness of Shadow Moses: The Unofficial Truth.
Gary McGolden received an optical disc from an unknown party. He believed it was from his friend Max Smithson, chief editor of the magazine Megasurprise, but Max denies it. The disc contained the book In the Darkness of Shadow Moses: The Unofficial Truth. After reading the book, he decided to conduct an investigation to see if the contents of the book are true. He disappeared soon after publishing his story.
Emma Emmerich held a disc that contained a computer virus that would disable GW, which was modeled after FOXDIE. She managed to install the virus, but the upload stopped at ninety percent. GW was severely impaired, but not destroyed.
