Parrot (food)

In Metal Gear Solid 3, in order to survive or regain stamina, Snake must eat food. This article contains information about the Parrot in the game.

The Parrot is found during the battle with The End (or, if you killed The End when he appeared at the Ponizovje Warehouse Exterior, during the second, optional battle with the Ocelot Unit). It will appear in one of the three Sokrovenno areas (Sokrovenno South, West, or East); its starting location varies based on the difficulty of your current game. For example, on Easy or Very Easy, it will be sitting on the large log in Sokrovenno South near Snake's location at the start of the battle.
If Snake catches the parrot alive and releases it during the battle with The End, it will fly to him and distract him by calling out "grandpa!" repeatedly until he shoos it away. If the parrot is spooked, or if The End shoos it away, it will fly to another predetermined location in one of the three Sokrovenno areas.
If you don't kill it or keep it alive in your inventory in Sokrovenno, it will appear in Tikhogornyj after the battle with The Sorrow. It will be perched on a branch of a tree facing the right side of the waterfall across the pool. Keep your distance, as it will fly away if spooked, and may not return at all.
The parrot is one of the food items that must be captured (alive or dead) in order to get the Markhor ranking (if you don't get a better ranking) and/or the EZ Gun (on any difficulty but Very Easy).

- The End gets angry if you kill and/or eat his parrot (i.e. if you eat it after you capture it with a tranquilizer gun).
- The End's parrot is supposedly the great-great-grandmother of Emma's parrot.
- The parrot somehow dies, and later appears with The End during the battle with The Sorrow, if you captured it and kept it alive up through the torture scene. Even if you didn't catch it the bird will appear on the ends back during the Sorrow scene
- If the parrot somehow dies, it will still appear in The End's death scene as a spirit.
