Piggyback Guides is a strategy guide printing company.
Relation to Metal Gear
Piggyback Guides has published guides for all the numbered Metal Gear Solid titles (exempting Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes) as well as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Starting with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, they also release a limited edition collector's guide that includes a limited edition lithograph made by Yoji Shinkawa, an artwork gallery that may or may not contain concept notes, and in the case of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a two-sided map containing the three main areas the player can explore: Afghanistan, Africa, and Mother Base. The GAME edition of the MGSV guide is largely similar to the collector's edition, only it has a light-colored cover instead of a dark-colored cover, and it has two additional lithographs.
Because they were sworn to secrecy by Konami and Kojima Productions about the nature of the plot twist of Venom Snake being a separate character from Big Boss, the hard cover versions did not include any details on Mission 46: Truth: The Man who Sold the World, and as such were forbidden to directly indicate Venom Snake was not Big Boss. A separate PDF download containing details for Truth: The Man Who Sold The World was later released on November 9. The PDF also included details on how to unlock the secret nuclear disarmament event. In order to access the PDF, a password was required, with their hinting on the official site that it was the first word (Quiet) on page 304 of the strategy guide.
