Satoshi Ito, better known by his pen name Project Itoh (伊藤 計劃, Itō Keikaku^?, 1974-2009), was a science fiction author and illustrator who wrote the Japanese novelization of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Prior to his professional work, Itoh was a fan artist best known for his Metal Gear-based dōjinshi and fan fiction, published on his now-defunct website Spooktales. His works caught the attention of Hideo Kojima himself and Itoh became a contributing writer in several Kojima-related literature. Itoh passed away at the age of 34 on March 20, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. The ending of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was dedicated to him.

Kojima also planned to have Itoh write novelizations of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Peace Walker, but the latter's death ended that possibility.
