Stephen was a cyborg commander of Desperado Enforcement LLC. His cyborg serial number was 573 52201 2617.

Biography[]

Early life[]

At some point during the early 2010s, Stephen ended up experimented on by the Patriots, resulting in him becoming a cyborg. His left arm, in particular, was replaced with a cybernetic one, containing data from the Patriots.

After the Patriots' fall, he ended up joining Desperado Enforcement LLC., eventually rising to the ranks of a platoon commander.

In 2018, Stephen, alongside the rest of Desperado under Mistral, took part in the Abkhazian Coup under the employment of their client, the Chechen terrorist Andrey Dolzaev. During this time, he manned the check-in area for the gate leading to the old part of Sukhumi that led to the Russian coastal refinery plant in Abkhazia.

When Raiden, who alongside Maverick was deployed to Abkhazia to quell the coup, arrived at the gate area, Raiden, under the advice of Kevin and Doktor, proceeded to locate the cyborg in charge of the area and take his arm. He eventually located him near the bridge area gate, and proceeded to remove his arm and kill him. Doktor, upon analyzing the arm contents, also discovered that he had formerly been modified at a Patriot facility, just as Raiden himself had been. Raiden then managed to use the arm to input his ID code into the terminal, granting access.

Behind the scenes[]

Stephen is a character in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, as well as one of thirty cyborgs to contain retrievable left arms in the game. He acted as the first cyborg commander in Chapter R-01 and of the whole game, manning a gate blocking Raiden's path.

Because of his effectively acting as a tutorial for cutting off left arms, as well as the arm being necessary to access the gate, Stephen is the only one of the cyborg commanders in the game to actually retain his left arm in replays of the game, even after the player retrieves his arm.

If the player failed to cut off Stephen's arm or decided against it, they can also cut the gate open via the small opening.
