Grenade

A Grenade is an explosive device that comes in several forms.

- Fragmentation Grenade - Heavily damages anyone nearby, or kills them if they are too close when it goes off.
- White Phosphorous (WP) Grenade - Incendiary grenade causes the immediate area to catch fire. Can cause serious burns to anyone unfortunate enough to be caught in its blast.
- Stun Grenade - Causes temporary blindness and deafness and disrupts balance. Can effectively stun a room full of guards without harming them.
- Smoke Grenade - Creates a smokescreen that Snake can use to escape from the enemy. It also acts as a form of tear-gas which can make attack dogs lose Snake's scent.
- Chaff Grenade - Temporarily disrupts and disables electronic equipment, such as Surveillance Cameras, but is a double-edged sword as it also stops the Soliton Radar from working. While this grenade does not actually exist in the real world, a form of chaff which confuses enemy radar is used commonly by fighter aircraft to confuse radar systems.
- LNG - Does small amounts of damage and freezes enemy weapons. Only usable by Python in Portable Ops.

The grenades appear in all MGS games, as well as Metal Gear Online. A Grenade Launcher is also Solid Snake's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
