My Review from MGR:R
The gameplay is great. Although it is a hack and slash games players may decide to use stealth. Raiden uses HF blades as his main weapons and can acquire unique weapons at a certain point in the game through the customization menu. Raiden has a variety of moves of his arsenal. All moves are unlocked although you can purchase more damage dealing versions. A problem I encountered was the parry system. You must press the light attack button and push the analog stick in the direction of the enemie's attack. This often lead to many deaths. Platnium should have added circle as a parry button rather than the above. Raiden's awesome kick techniques can be sacrificed for unique weapon attacks, all of which are quite stylish. At a certain point in the story Raiden acquires Ripper Mode, his darker persona. It basically breaks enemy armor and tears all enemies to pieces while doing more damage. I find Ripper Mode overpoweredly stylish. I loved S-Ranking chapters!
The story is very interesting, and I liked learning about Desperado and PMCs. I also began to think of Raiden as a person. I thought about his childhood as a soldier and how he sees HF blades as a tool of justice; it's a thought provoking game.
The soundtrack for Metal Gear Rising is primarily rock during gameplay. Cinematic cutscenes use badass dynamic instrumental. The boss themes are quite epic.
