Gameplay
The gameplay of Revengeance differs drastically from previous Metal Gear titles, with a stronger focus on fast-paced action. The game's primary mechanic focuses around swordplay and a cutting system. Raiden's combat focus will settle mostly with melee and bladed weapons, with his katana being his primary weapon. Raiden is able to select various sub-weapons, but none of them are ranged. The franchise's stealth element will return, but as a form of gathering reconnaissance through a visor. The player can verify areas and proceed to objectives while avoiding contact with enemies. Raiden will receive support assistance from Bladewolf, a dog-like machine that gathers map information.

Cutting System
The game's cutting system is immensely in depth, allowing players to engage in third person melee combat, along with the ability to precisely slash enemies and objects along a geometrical plane. The 'Blade Mode' allows for the players to line their slahes in a particular direction. This mode produced a special trageting reicule in the form of a transparent blue plane which can be rotated and moved. The mode is also able to slow down time to a 'bullet time' slate, allowing for precise cutting during intense moments of action. Nearly every object in the game can be cut, including vehicles, enemies, and other objects.

Abilities
Raiden will have the ability to parry the attacks of enemies, which can lead to counterattacks and combos. The players as the access to the stealth mode called "Ninja Dash" which drastically increases Raiden's speed and allow him to climb specific structures. This ability can be used to lead to possible ambushes of enemy groups. Another ability of Raiden's is the zan-datsu, which involves cutting through enemies and then taking their parts, energy, ammunition, items, and information from the disembodied robots and cyborgs. When completing missions, the player will be graded on their performance. The highest grade is S.
